External Commitments

To achieve no harm to people and no damage to the environment, PotashCorp assesses the safety, health and environmental hazards and risks of all products before they are sold. Assessments are made periodically for normal use and foreseeable misuse, including adverse effects experienced in handling.

Current information on safety, health and environmental risks associated with the use, storage, handling, transport and disposal of products is available to employees, customers and others. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), labels and other information are produced and issued in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements, and as information changes. MSDS are periodically reviewed to ensure they are current and are available on our website.

Voluntary Standards

To better serve our customers, and to promote safety in all aspects of our operations, we adhere to the following voluntary standards:

  • Lima and Augusta facilities are ISO 9001-certified to quality management standards.
  • Working with The Fertilizer Institute, we established a Security Code of Management Practices, adopting this risk-based approach to identify, assess and address security vulnerabilities.
  • Our Aurora facility is an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site.
  • All our feed plants are certified under the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program of the American Feed Industry Association.

Membership in Business and Industry Associations
