One of PotashCorp's primary vehicles for seeking input from employees is the annual Employee Engagement Survey, in conjunction with the Organizational Culture Diagnostic Instrument (OCDI).
In 2007, approximately 2,500 PotashCorp employees at all levels responded to 10 engagement questions. While specific responses varied from site to site and group to group, some general trends did emerge:
- Employees generally gave the company highest marks in the areas of job knowledge and customer satisfaction.
- Their responses also indicated room for improvement in internal communications and job growth.
Employee engagement surveys were followed up with focus group sessions conducted by a qualified third party. Participating sites communicated survey results to employees, and management developed action plans around feedback received in the surveys.
