Issues raised by customers in 2007 included:
- Availability of supply was an industry-wide issue for all customer groups, particularly with continuing consolidation in all agricultural industries.
- Escalation of prices and volatility of pricing emerged as an even greater concern for customers, with some identifying the emergence of ethanol and biofuels as a contributing factor to the escalation.
- All customer groups rated customer service as very important, particularly as it pertained to supply concerns.
In response to these issues:
- PotashCorp is bringing on more supply in potash and phosphate to ensure we have adequate capacity to meet demands of our customers.
- The company focuses on providing customers with the highest overall value and being the supplier of choice to customers. Our customer service department maintains a full-time staff of seven representatives, dedicated to the company's agricultural or industrial products.
- PotashCorp has worked with customers to put in place more than 150 warehouses across North America, allowing customers to secure supply and purchase product in advance.
- PotashCorp continues to maintain 24/7 customer service and trains its customer service agents in the company's service culture.
