Modern agriculture's use of commercial fertilizers is under pressure, primarily due to perceptions of environmental and safety concerns.
Since many concerns are based on misconceptions and inaccurate information, PotashCorp has programs to educate the public and its critics on the benefits and the facts (vs. the myths) about fertilizer. Engagement vehicles include brochures, CDs, website postings and support for The Fertilizer Institute's Nutrients for Life Foundation and its educational component.
Government Officials
Government officials have a number of issues and concerns related to fertilizer. This includes excessive use and the resulting run-off that could pollute rivers, streams, lakes, etc.; the safe handling and transportation of products; security measures at PotashCorp plants; and the manufacture and transportation of ammonium nitrate.
These and other issues are monitored and addressed by the company through membership in and active involvement with The Fertilizer Institute, an industry association.
