PotashCorp is taking active steps to build relationships with Saskatchewan's Aboriginal communities in order to become a more accessible and attractive employer to Aboriginal people.
Discussions continued with various Aboriginal educational, social and employment groups, and PotashCorp was represented in training sessions focusing on making connections between employers and the Aboriginal workforce.
The company was a major sponsor of the First Nations Summer Games in Saskatchewan in the summer of 2007.
The Human Resources and Corporate Relations Departments jointly employed the first student in the company's inaugural Aboriginal Summer Internship program to work on various projects during the summer of 2007.
In July 2007, Aboriginal consultants made a presentation to PotashCorp's Board of Directors and executives in Saskatoon. The theme was "Building a Representative Workforce – Aboriginal Awareness."
