PCS Potash New Brunswick received the 2005 National John T. Ryan award for Select Mines, the most prestigious award in the Canadian mining industry.

New Brunswick was recognized in the Select Mine category, which includes open pit, oil sands, strip and non-metallic underground mines. The facility worked the 2005 year without a lost-time or modified work incident.

New Brunswick division representatives accepted the award at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Awards Gala in Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 15, 2006. The award honors the founder of MSA Canada Inc., sponsor of the award, and has been given annually since 1941.

New Brunswick also won the award in 2003.

"Winning this prestigious award is an accomplishment that all employees at the division should be extremely proud of," said Garth Moore, President, PCS Potash. "Being so honored two out of the last three years helps to validate the effort put towards our safety program by the Joint OH&S Committees, the S.C.O.R.E. Steering Committee, the employee observers and all of our workers. On behalf of the rest of the employees of PotashCorp, I congratulate each and every one of you on a job well done."

New Brunswick also marked 2005 by working three million hours without a lost-time incident on November 1, 2005, and five years without a lost-time incident on December 12, 2005.
