Operations

An underground mining operation with an annual capacity of 1.4 million tonnes KCl, Cory produces white soluble and granular product, chicklets and K-Prills. Industrial product applications include water softeners and ice melt.

Significant Events

A granular scalping screen was installed during 2006 to improve product quality.

The recordable injury rate was 2.19 for 2006, 46 percent below the five-year average.

Cory had no lost-time injuries in 2006.

Community Contributions

In 2006, Cdn $12,939 was donated to local community organizations. Major recipients were the Children's Health Foundation, YMCA, Vanscoy School, Asquith School and Fairhaven Community Association.

The United Way was the major recipient of in-kind contributions.

Awards

Cory shared the 2006 Campaign Chair's Award of the United Way of Saskatoon and Area for the best overall performance by a workplace campaign.

The value of goods, materials and services purchased locally in 2006 (excluding raw materials and energy) was Cdn $15.6 million, representing 78 percent of total procurement.
