Operations
This animal feed ingredients plant produces dicalcium phosphate (DCP) and monocalcium phosphate (MCP) feed supplements, with annual capacity of 180 thousand tons.
Significant Achievements
Joplin maintained its certification by the American Feed Industry Association Safe Feed/Safe Food program.
Employees achieved five years without a lost-time injury and worked through 2006 without a recordable injury.
Community Support
Cash donations to local community organizations totaled $8,739. McKinley Elementary School, the United Way of Southwest Missouri, St. John's Hospice walk, Newspapers in Education and the National FFA Week promotion were the main recipients.
McKinley Elementary School was the beneficiary of the site's in-kind donations.
Awards
Joplin received a Platinum Award from the United Way of Southwest Missouri for employee contributions and a Product Stewardship Award from the BNSF Railroad for performance in 2005.
Environmental Initiatives
Secondary containment was added around the acid storage tanks.
Local Procurement
In 2006, the value of goods, materials and services purchased locally (excluding raw materials and energy) totaled $1.2 million. This represented 52 percent of all procurement.
