Significant AchievementsThe new Lavras warehouse and bagging unit in the State of Minas Gerais were completed and opened in 2006. A technical sales seminar in Goiania provided an opportunity for agents and representatives to develop a better understanding of PCS products and the ways in which farmers could use them. The company had an opportunity to develop a better working relationship with agents and representatives and address their questions, suggestions and complaints. Community RelationsFosfatos do Brasil held two public meetings in 2006, which discussed security and safety, social projects and environmental issues. Two meetings were held with the environmental agency to discuss complaints about dical odor and improvements in the treatment of sewage effluent. Environmental InitiativesA new sewage treatment system was installed in 2006. The height of the wet scrubber chimney was raised to improve the odor from the stack. Energy InitiativesImprovements were made to the dical drying process to decrease fuel consumption. Local ProcurementThe value of all goods, materials and services purchased locally in 2006 (excluding raw materials and energy) was $5.9 million, which represented 39 percent of total procurement.
