Operations

Ineos operated the Lima facility in 2006 under an operating agreement with PCS Nitrogen, Inc, LP. The site produces ammonia, nitric acid, urea solutions, prill and granular urea, ammonium nitrate liquid, and urea/ammonium nitrate solutions (UAN). It has an annual capacity of 648 thousand tons of ammonia. The plant is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified.

Achievements

Lima set a new world record in 2006 for total ammonia produced from a single train over the life of the unit.

Community Relations

The plant has maintained an active environmental Citizens Advisory Committee (CAP) for many years. Both Ineos and PCS participated last year. The CAP meets once per quarter and reviews all environmental issues, including emissions, permitting, reportable quantity reports and operations.

Lima joined with a number of other companies in the area to hire a public relations expert to help develop a common community message.

Community Donations

The plant is a sponsor of the area's United Way campaign. Cash donations to local community organizations in 2006 totaled $35,830, with most of it going to Science Enhancement for Science Education, 4H Extension Council, Allen County Fair, Wilson Football Museum, the Keep Allen County Beautiful campaign and Art Space Lima.

Awards and Recognition

Lima was the only company to receive all four awards offered by the West Central Safety Council for its 2005 safety performance: Group Safety Award (lowest incident rate in its group), 100% Award (an entire year without a lost-time injury), Achievement Award (decreased the accident rate by 25 percent from the previous year) and Special Award (accumulated at least 500,000 hours and at least six months without a lost-time injury).

Local Procurement

The value of all goods, materials and services purchased locally in 2006 (excluding raw materials and energy) was $5.7 million, which represented 52 percent of total procurement.
