PotashCorp’s Sustainability Report Among the Best in Canada
Published: May 2006
Sustainability Report
Beyond the Boardroom placed sixth among Canadian sustainability reports in Stratos Inc.'s biennial survey
Beyond the Boardroom, PotashCorp's 2004 Sustainability Report, placed sixth in Stratos Inc.'s biennial survey measuring the efficacy of Canadian sustainability reports.

The report earned 92 out of a possible 138 points, ranking it first in the Chemical & Chemical Products sector and ahead of all entrants in the Mining & Minerals sector.

"Our commitment to stakeholders extends far beyond financial performance," said President and CEO Bill Doyle. "Continuing to find ways to share information about our company and to keep an open dialogue with the people affected by our business is good for our company, our partners, and our communities."

The survey, Gaining Momentum: Corporate Sustainability Reporting in Canada, graded reports in ten categories, which ranged from Context and Coverage to Quality, Credibility and Communications. Within those ten categories 46 criteria were evaluated, each worth a maximum of three points.

Beyond the Boardroom was one of three reports among the 114 surveyed to receive full marks in the Environmental Performance category, which assesses how well the report accounts for the company's resource inputs and environmental outputs, how thoroughly it provides trend data, how and why changes to data have occurred over time, and what level of future performance the company commits to achieve.

PotashCorp's report was also one of four to receive full marks in the Policies, Organization and Management Systems category, which assesses whether and how the report describes the company's relevant sustainability policies, procedures, management systems and decision-making structures.

Stratos Inc. is an Ottawa-based consulting firm providing business, governments and organizations with information and tools to facilitate the adoption of sustainable policies and practices. To view the full Gaining Momentum report, visit Stratos at www.stratos-sts.com
