PotashCorp Wins Good Governance Award
Published: October 2008
Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) has been awarded the Governance Gavel Award for Director Disclosure by the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG).

The award, created in 2005 to recognize excellence in how companies communicate with their shareholders via the annual proxy circular, was presented to PotashCorp at a September meeting of the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries held in Victoria, BC.

Joseph Podwika, Senior VP, General Counsel and Secretary for PotashCorp, says the award recognizes PotashCorp's determination to build support and understanding among shareholders.

"One of PotashCorp's core values is to operate at the highest standards of business conduct," Podwika said. "This includes communicating promptly, completely and accurately with our shareholders. We're pleased the Coalition has recognized us for our efforts in this area, particularly because a number of our shareholders are members of the coalition."

The mission of the CCGG is to represent Canadian institutional shareholders in the promotion of corporate governance practices that best align the interests of boards and management with those of the shareholder. A company's disclosure is judged against criteria outlined in the organization's Best Practices in Shareholder Communication document published in 2007. The Coalition is comprised of 46 of the largest institutional investors in Canada.
