What is RSS?
RSS is a technology that allows you to have updated news from your favorite websites sent to you automatically.

What are the benefits of using RSS?
RSS feeds deliver, directly to your web browser or email, updated news in categories of interest to you so you don’t have to search the site for the latest information. It's like having a customized, up-to-the-minute newspaper delivered to your desktop.

How do I use RSS?
1.  With Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7):
IE7 has a built-in RSS feed reader that automatically detects what feeds are available on your current page.

a. Click the orange RSS icon located in your browser toolbar to view your feed options.
IE 7 screen capture

b. Choose the link you want, then click “Subscribe” on the page that follows. The feed is automatically added to your IE7 feed list.

You can also choose a feed from the list on this page.

a. Click the link you want from the list above.
b. Click “Subscribe” on the page that follows. The feed is automatically added to your IE7 feed list.
For more information on how to use IE7’s RSS feed features, see

2. With Firefox and Safari:
Both web browsers support RSS feeds. See their support documents for further information.
3. With a newsreader or aggregator:
You can also use software called a newsreader or aggregator, which can be:
  • a stand-alone software program like FeedReader (for Windows) or AmphetaDesk (for Windows or Mac). Both are free.
  • a web-based aggregator like My Yahoo!.
  • an email program that supports XML/RSS feeds
Please see your software's support documents for RSS feed instructions.
