(PotashCorp) today reported second-quarter earnings of $1.55 per share1 ($472.0 million), more than double the $0.61 per share ($186.2 million) earned in the same period last year. This result was the second-highest second-quarter total in company history and raised first-half 2010 earnings to $3.02 per share ($921.2 million). Our performance for the quarter reflected the continuing recovery in fertilizer demand and was enhanced by a $69.6 million special dividend (equivalent to approximately $0.17 per share) from our investment in Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) in Israel.
