SASKATOON CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. today announced that Canpotex, the offshore sales agency for Saskatchewan potash producers, has concluded contracts with major Chinese customers. The contracts should result in shipments to China during the first half of 2000 equal to or slightly higher than the 1.6 million tonnes sold to China in all of 1999. The contracts were completed at prices unchanged from the previous year. PCS supplies Canpotex with 56 percent of its potash product.

SASKATOON, SK CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved of its intention to commence, subject to regulatory approval, an open market repurchase program with respect to its common shares (known in Canada as a normal course issuer bid), through which PCS will make open market purchases on the Toronto Stock Exchange, the Montreal Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.

SASKATOON, SK CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) earned net income of $14.5 million in third-quarter 1999, or $0.27 per share, before one-time corporate charges of $585.6 million ($538.8 million after taxes). Including all one-time charges, the net loss for the third quarter was $(524.2) million, or $(9.66) per share. This compares to $54.7 million, or $1.01 per share, in the third quarter of 1998. Net sales revenue was $453.6 million in this year's third quarter, compared to $521.4 million in the same quarter of 1998.

SASKATOON, SK CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) today announced additional reduction in both P2O5 and DAP production at its facility in White Springs, Florida, a further response to deteriorating phosphate market conditions. The Suwannee River Plant will indefinitely shut down its DAP train and reduce its P2O5 output aimed at the export market. This will reduce the Company's P2O5 production by 90,000 tonnes annually and its DAP production by 275,000 tonnes annually.

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan PRNewswire – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (NYSE: POT; Toronto: POT.; Montreal: POT.) has announced it will permanently close its nitrogen plants at Clinton, Iowa and LaPlatte, Nebraska, which were indefinitely shut down on August 12, 1999. After a thorough review of current and future market conditions, the Company concluded that neither plant could be operated competitively. This shutdown of .420 million tonnes of ammonia capacity, along with other industry closures (temporary or permanent), has reduced North American capacity by approximately 20 percent.

(PCS) announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly dividend of US $O.25 per share payable November 15, 1999 to shareholders of record October 25, 1999. Previously, PCS has declared dividends in Canadian dollars, most recently a quarterly dividend of CDN $0.36.

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan PRNewswire – Strong potash volumes and prices and a lower deferred tax expense enabled Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) (NYSE: POT; Toronto: POT.; Montreal: POT.) to report second-quarter 1999 net income of $61.8 million, or $1.14 per share. This compares to $89.1 million, or $1.64 per share, in the same quarter of 1998 when potash earned less but phosphate and nitrogen earned more. Net sales revenue was $564.5 million and operating income was $96.9 million in this year's second quarter, compared to $660.4 million and $146.9 million, respectively, in the same quarter of 1998.

SASKATOON CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. ("PCS") confirmed today that it has agreed to participate in a proposed restructuring of Minera Yolanda SCM ("Minera"), a Chilean sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate producer. Subject to the successful completion of certain Chilean insolvency proceedings and the satisfaction of other conditions including certain court and regulatory approvals, PCS has agreed to recapitalize and acquire all the shares of Minera for approximately US $36 million (subject to adjustment) which includes certain payments to be made to the secured creditors of Minera. The investment by PCS is conditional upon, amongst other things, a restructuring of the capital in Minera which will result in the repayment, repurchase, cancellation or satisfaction of the existing indebtedness of Minera. The senior lenders of Minera have agreed to support the proposed restructuring. It is expected that the transaction will be completed by mid 1999. Minera is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KAP Resources Ltd.
