SASKATOON CNW-PRN – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) today announced that it has purchased, pursuant to a public offering by the Government of the State of Israel, 108,359,925 Ordinary Shares of Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) for an aggregate purchase price of NIS 382,510,535 (approximately US $91,291,297). This purchase represents 9.03% of the issued and outstanding Ordinary Shares of ICL.

SASKATOON CNW – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PCS) today reported third quarter net income of $54.7 million ($1.01 per share) compared to $71.4 million ($1.33 per share) in the same quarter of 1997. Net sales revenue was $521.4 million and operating income $95.6 million. The comparable numbers for 1997's third quarter were $573.8 million and $108.9 million, respectively. Income before taxes was $79.7 million compared to $86.1 million a year earlier. At the end of nine months, income before taxes was $299.3 million, 2 percent higher than the $294.0 million earned in the first three quarters of 1997.

Doyle has been appointed to this position and will be responsible for all production subsidiaries. He will report to Mr. C. E. Childers who continues as Chairman and CEO of the Corporation.

SASKATOON, CNW-PRN – Increased potash volumes and prices raised Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. first quarter net income to $63.0 million, 12 percent higher than the $56.4 million earned in the first quarter of 1997. Net income per share was $1.17, compared to $1.18 during the comparable quarter one year ago. Net sales revenue of $583.8 million was up 26 percent and operating income at $109.8 million was up 21 percent.

SASKATOON CNW – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (the "Corporation") announced today that it has concluded its purchase of all the outstanding shares of Potash Company of Canada Limited from Kali und Salz Beteiligungs AG of Germany and Entreprise Minière et Chimique of France. The Corporation acquired the shares for consideration of CDN$15.9 million, subject to adjustment. In connection with the closing of the transaction the vendors were released from their guarantees for certain outstanding bank indebtedness of the acquired business. Concurrent with the closing, the name Potash Company of Canada Limited was changed to PCS Cassidy Lake Limited ("PCS Cassidy Lake").
