Lanigan, Saskatchewan – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today announced an $800,000 donation toward the construction of a new medical clinic in Lanigan. In addition, the company pledged an additional $200,000 matching gift donation which will match, dollar-for-dollar, donations made by the community. Speaking this afternoon at a luncheon, Rob Bubnick, General Manager of PotashCorp Lanigan, presented organizers with the donation and encouraged other local companies and residents to give and get involved.
“The communities represented by the Lanigan & District Regional Health Committee are important to us at PotashCorp. They have played a major role in our success,” explained Bubnick. “This donation, and matching gift contribution, is about giving back and sharing our success here at home. It’s what good neighbours do.”
PotashCorp will match each dollar given to the clinic’s fundraising campaign up to a maximum of $200,000. These funds, in addition to PotashCorp’s initial $800,000 contribution, will help raise $1.2 million toward construction of the facility.
PotashCorp is strongly committed to community investment and has a goal of contributing 1% of its pre-tax earnings to all communities where it has operations. Through the matching-gift formula, PotashCorp hopes to encourage other donations and energize the clinic’s fundraising campaign now underway.
“It’s our hope that this donation, and matching gift contribution, will help move the project forward in a big way and build momentum toward its completion,” said Bubnick. “Once complete, we hope that the clinic will improve the standard of care available to everyone in the area and help to attract medical professionals who will see Lanigan as a great place to live and build their careers.”
The new medical clinic will be home to a primary health care team which will consist of two doctors, a nurse practitioner and other health disciplines.
