PotashCorp Recognized for Excellence in Corporate Reporting

Published: December 08, 2016

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Describing PotashCorp as “a longtime titan in corporate reporting,” Canada’s professional accountants have recognized the company with their 2016 Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting.

PotashCorp received the honor from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) at a gala event Wednesday evening in Toronto.

“A widely recognized leader in high-quality corporate reporting, PotashCorp narrated a well-organized and complete story that went above and beyond in explaining the company’s strategies, risks, uncertainties, forecasts and outcomes,” the judges said.

CPA Canada annually presents Awards of Excellence in Corporate Reporting. In the Financial Reporting category, several areas are evaluated, including the message to investors – how the company outlines its mission and growth strategy; presentation of management’s discussion and analysis and the annual financial statements; and how much specific, measurable information is provided on its performance scorecard.

In the past 24 years, PotashCorp has won a total of 50 corporate reporting awards from CPA Canada, which are considered the most prestigious in the country. Categories include financial reporting, electronic disclosure, corporate governance disclosure and sustainability reporting.

“We are honored by this recognition from CPA Canada. Our entire team focuses on reporting that is engaging and provides all our stakeholders with a clear look at our company, our performance and how we create value,” said Denita Stann, Senior Vice President, Investor and Public Relations.

PotashCorp is the world’s largest crop nutrient company and plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global population rising and diets improving in developing countries, these nutrients offer a responsible and practical solution to meeting the long-term demand for food. PotashCorp is the largest producer, by capacity, of potash and one of the largest producers of nitrogen and phosphate. While agriculture is its primary market, the company also produces products for animal nutrition and industrial uses. Common shares of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.
