IPNI Research
The Potash and Phosphate Institute (PPI) was founded in 1935 and over the past 65 years has helped people around the world understand the benefits of proper fertilization. It has achieved these goals by providing leadership and funding for research and education programs that demonstrate the proper use and benefits of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

By working with university research scientists, government agencies and fertilizer industry scientists, PPI established its outstanding reputation for integrity science-based research and education programs.

In January 2007 PPI changed its name to the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI), to reflect a new mission and membership. IPNI will now promote research and develop scientific information about the proper use and management of all plant nutrients. Member companies represent nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulfur fertilizer manufacturers from around the world.

The ultimate purpose of IPNI is to help provide a coordinated scientific foundation for fertilizer use in profitably producing food, fiber and fuel in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way. Research developed and funded by IPNI will help shape agriculture, food production and fertilizer use around the world for many years to come.
