Application

When you fertilize is going to depend on what crop you're working with, and what kind of soil you have. While it's a really good idea to have your soil tested, a general rule of thumb to follow is fertilizing fruit and vegetable gardens and flower beds once in the spring. Lawns should be fertilized three to four times a year, usually in early spring, late spring or early summer, mid-summer and fall.

Follow the bag's instructions for the amount you need to apply.

There are four main methods of fertilizer application.
