PotashCorp Donates $250,000 for New Urology Centre
August 22, 2008
Saskatoon, Sask. – They are surely among the most valuable pair of boxer shorts in the world.

The $250,000 cheque PotashCorp Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Wayne Brownlee presented to St. Paul's Hospital Foundation's Embracing the Future campaign on Friday evening was written on a pair of boxer shorts.

The setting was Saskatoon radio station Rock 102's Boxer Bash fundraiser held at the Bessborough Hotel. The large donation will go towards constructing a new Urology Centre for Health, a state-of-the-art facility that will focus on treating prostate cancer and other urological diseases.

"The Foundation's highly strategic campaign appealed to PotashCorp," said Brownlee. "Just as PotashCorp believes in focusing on a future need and determining the best way to meet it, the Urology Centre of Health has identified a need and developed an innovative plan to deal with it."

Brownlee presented the cheque to campaign co-chair and PotashCorp board member Robert Stromberg.

An estimated 800 Saskatchewan men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006. Statistics indicate 250 of those men will die from the disease. Prostate cancer continues to be the leading form of cancer diagnosed in men.

The centre will be constructed on the St. Paul's Hospital site.

Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. is the world's largest fertilizer enterprise producing the three primary plant nutrients and a leading supplier to three distinct market categories: agriculture, with the largest capacity in the world in potash, second largest in nitrogen and third largest in phosphate; animal nutrition, with the world's largest capacity in phosphate feed ingredients; and industrial chemicals, as the largest global producer of industrial nitrogen products and the world's largest capacity for production of purified industrial phosphoric acid.
