Potash Under-Application an OpportunityWhile many countries are improving the nutrient balance in their soils by increasing potash applications, much larger increases are possible, according to IPNI. China, for example, needs to more than double its annual potash consumption to achieve scientifically recommended applications. Potash consumption in India needs to increase by 7 million tonnes to reach the proper ratio. Brazil, which grows significant acres of potash-consuming crops on soil that is already low in potassium, would need to raise consumption by 6 million tonnes just to meet the needs of acres already in production.
