Brazilian Farmers Returning to SoybeansLow crop prices and the combined impact of a strong real, high input costs and credit issues curtailed Brazilian soybean production over the past two years. Conditions have changed, however, in part because US farmers are switching significant acres from soybeans to corn. This is raising prices and Brazilian soybean acreage is therefore expected to rebound by 10 percent over 2006 levels. Source: USDA, PotashCorp |
