Low-cost Production in Trinidad Is Key

The nitrogen industry has significant competitive pressures, and success is connected to the costs of natural gas and ocean freight. Our Trinidad operation, which produced over 65 percent of our ammonia in 2006, is well-positioned because of its long-term, lower-cost gas contracts and its proximity to the United States. The global nitrogen industry will always include a large number of competitors, but Trinidad's advantages are significant.

While the higher-cost US gas environment impacts our operations at Augusta, Lima and Geismar, these facilities focus on industrial sales, where quality and security of supply are key.
