In September 2006, the 25 Joplin employees earned the PotashCorp Award for Excellence in Safety. PotashCorp President and CEO Bill Doyle recognized them for working without a lost-time injury for more than five years and congratulated them on their tremendous accomplishment.
He said the achievement shows that "the employees of Joplin are proud to work safe."
"Safety is more than a priority," Doyle said. "It is a core value of our company. It is what drives our company, and it comes before everything else."
Joplin employees also completed 2006 without an OSHA recordable injury, which they have done in two of the last three years. This excellent performance is, in part, due to the plant's Behavioral Accident Prevention Program? and other PotashCorp safety initiatives.
