Bolstered Safe Feed/Safe Food Section Ready For Review
A visit to the Safe Feed/Safe Food section of the PotashCorp feed website — www.potashcorpfeed.com — might surprise you. Recently updated to include new content about Safe Feed/Safe Food, the site offers visitors new information and features about the program.
"The launch of AFIA's Safe Feed/Safe Food program struck us as so important, we immediately started the ball rolling to have each of our North American feed plants certified in 2005," said Mark Etienne, Vice President Feed Sales. "We also dedicated a section of our feed website to the program so that anyone who worked with us would know how seriously we view feed and food safety.
"Then, last year, we realized that this was one instance where you really could not get too much of a good thing. While visitors to the site could learn a great deal about the program even before the revamp, we wanted to expand our offerings in a more lively format."
In addition to viewing short videotaped interviews with experts in the animal feed industry, now visitors to the Safe Feed/Safe Food section of the website can read new in-depth interviews with these industry leaders.
"Our five North American feed plants were re-certified under the Safe Feed/Safe Food program for 2007," said Etienne. "We're proud to be part of this program and to give it greater visibility on our website."
AFIA's Safe Feed/Safe Food program was launched in 2004 to bolster consumer confidence in the country's feed/food supply and provide self-regulation through third-party certification audits provided by the Facility Certification Institute. The focus of the program is identification and elimination of chemical and biological hazards and traceability of feed ingredients that are incorporated into the food chain.
