PotashCorp’s Statistical Quality Control Procedures Put Our Feed Phosphates Under the Microscope

Control Strategies Control Strategies Control Strategies
At each of PotashCorp’s feed plants, Statistical Process Control strategies are performed at more than 20 critical control points, starting with raw materials receiving and continuing all the way through to finished product loadout.
When you order a feed product from PotashCorp, our adherence to strict Statistical Quality Control procedures ensures you receive the exact feed phosphate specification that you ordered. Think of our feed phosphates as the “apple a day” that can help you grow strong and healthy animals.

How do we do it?

At each of our feed plants, you’ll find a laboratory staffed with technicians who continually test feed phosphate samples pulled off our production lines to detect chemical variance from specifications. Our trained technicians correct any discrepancy, using Statistical Process Control procedures to make precise process adjustments as needed. It is a continuous duty whenever the plant is operating.

We formulate the amount of phosphate and calcium in our feed phosphate products to maximize the content of biologically available phosphorus. And we use precise control strategies to ensure that label guarantees are met. This assurance means that you get the phosphorus you paid for. Our customers can then formulate to their precise requirements without concerns about compromising on nutrition.

“By continuously sampling a portion of product, we do not have gaps in data you may get when taking samples only now and then,” said Paul DeKok, General Manager, Feed Division. “Because of our continuous monitoring of product specifications — putting our feed phosphate products under the microscope — our customers can be assured of top quality animal nutrition.”
