Operations
This anhydrous ammonia storage and distribution facility located in the Georgia Port Authority is engaged in the loading and unloading of ammonia from ships, railcars and trucks to storage.
Significant Achievements
All shipments were completed on time despite an increase in truck shipments, which offset a decrease in rail traffic. This was challenging due to the limited manpower at the terminal.
The terminal achieved zero lost-time and reportable injuries in 2007.
It maintained its star status with OSHA.
Community Relations
The terminal is a member of the Savannah Chamber of Commerce.
Community Contributions
The value of cash donations to local community organizations in 2007 was $1,297. The principal recipients were the Children's Wish Foundation, Georgia Jaycees, Georgia National Guard, Children's Cancer Foundation, Georgia Association for the Deaf, MSAA and the Special Olympics.
In-kind contributions totaled $1,761 and went to Port Wentworth Elementary School and the Good Samaritans Club. The site is a business partner with Port Wentworth Elementary School.
Local Procurement
In 2007, the total value of locally purchased goods, materials and services (excluding raw materials, transportation and energy) was $1,500,000, which represents about 70 percent of purchases.
