Dical, Monocal and MAP are manufactured from super phosphoric acid (SPA) provided by the PCS White Springs facility. To produce Dical and Monocal, the feed grade (defluorinated) phosphoric acid is unloaded at the plant site and reacted with high quality ground limestone. In the production of MAP, the phosphoric acid is reacted with ammonia in a pipe reactor. The reacted material is then dried and sized to provide a consistent product with high bioavailability.

DFP is manufactured by mixing phosphoric acid and phosphate rock supplied by PotashCorp with caustic soda in a fluid bed reactor to form a modified tricalcium phosphate material. The hot product is cooled, crushed and sized. The finished product has both high nutrient density and high bioavailability.

Product Quality – PotashCorp is committed to delivering the highest quality animal feed products in the world. Quality starts with the raw materials. PotashCorp has devoted its state-of-the-art super phosphoric acid plant at White Springs to feed-grade acid production. This allows more consistent control of acid quality than is achieved in a typical fertilizer plant. In addition, statistical quality control methods are utilized throughout production and shipping to monitor and minimize variability. Unlike some suppliers that attempt to measure bioavailability through water solubility, PotashCorp determines bioavailability through feeding trials with live animals. This has allowed PotashCorp to tailor the manufacturing process to provide products with the highest bioavailability. Product delivery is also critical to overall quality. Most customers can receive direct shipment from one of the production facilities so that the problems with contamination and product quality associated with warehousing are avoided. All of these factors combine to make PotashCorp the standard for quality and service in the industry.

Uses
PotashCorp is the most diversified of any phosphate producer. It produces liquid fertilizers, solid fertilizers, animal feed supplements and industrial phosphate.

Markets
About two-thirds of PotashCorp's phosphate products are sold in North America. The North American market uses the largest quantities of phosphates in industry and animal nutrition.
