Operations

PCS Lima

Ineos operated the Lima facility in 2007 under an operating agreement with PCS Nitrogen, Inc, LP. As of January 1, 2008, PCS Nitrogen assumed operating responsibility for this facility.

The site produces ammonia, nitric acid, urea solutions, prill and granular urea, ammonium nitrate liquid and urea/ammonium nitrate solutions (UAN). It has an annual capacity of 648,000 tons of ammonia. The plant is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified.

Achievements

Lima set two new monthly ammonia production records and one quarterly record in 2007.

The site has now reached seven years without a lost-time injury.

Community Relations

The plant has participated in an active environmental Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) for many years. The CAC meets once per quarter and reviews all environmental issues, including emissions, permitting, reportable quantity reports and operations.

Community Donations

The plant is a sponsor of the area's United Way campaign. The value of cash donations to local community organizations in 2007 was $35,830, with most of it going to Science Enhancement for Science Education (SESA), Allen County Educational Service Center, Allen County Fair, Melanoma Research Foundation, Beaverdam Fire Department and the American Heart Association.

Awards and Recognition

Lima received a West Central Ohio Safety Council Award for its safety performance in 2007.

Ohio Chemistry Technology Council awarded Lima the 2007 Excellence in Environmental, Health, Safety and Security performance award.

The site received an award from the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association for three years without lost-time accidents.

Environment

The site began a study on reducing N2O emissions.

Procurement

The value of all goods, materials and services purchased locally in 2007 (excluding raw materials, transportation and energy) was $4.7 million, which represented 51 percent of procurement.
