1989

IPO of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. on November 2, 1989 on the Toronto (at CDN $18.00 per share, pre-splits) and New York (at US $15.125 per share, pre-splits) stock exchanges. The company had been a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Saskatchewan.

1990

Acquired Saskterra and its 40 percent interest in the Allan, Saskatchewan potash mine from Husky Oil Ltd. for $47M.

1993

Purchased the potash assets of Potash Company of America – a mine and mill in Saskatchewan and a mine, mill and port facility in New Brunswick – from Rio Algom for $111.8M.

1995

Purchased all outstanding shares of White Springs Agricultural Chemicals Ltd. from Occidental Chemical Corporation for $291.5M.

Created PCS Phosphate by purchasing all outstanding shares of Texasgulf Inc. for $832.6M. Texasgulf’s primary asset was a vertically integrated phosphate complex in Aurora, North Carolina.

1997

Created PCS Nitrogen by acquiring all outstanding shares of Arcadian Corporation for $563.6M and issuing eight million common shares valued at $573.3M. The primary assets included a nitrogen complex in Trinidad and four US facilities.

1998

Purchased nine percent of the shares of Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) from the Government of Israel for $93M.

Acquired all outstanding shares of Potash Company of Canada for $11.4M.

1999

Acquired Minera Yolanda SCM, a specialty potash producer in Chile, for $37M.

2001

Purchased approximately 48 million shares (about 18 percent) of Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile (SQM) for $131M.

2002

Purchased five million SQM shares for $23M, raising total investment interest to $154M.

2003

Acquired 26 percent of the shares of Arab Potash Company Ltd. (APC) for $178M. Brought on stream an 83,000-metric-tonne expansion of our purified phosphoric acid plant at PCS Phosphate Aurora, increasing its capacity to 251,000 tonnes P2O5.

2004

Invested $40.6M to increase ownership interest in SQM to 25 percent.

Announced a two-for-one stock split of the company’s outstanding common shares effective August 17, 2004, payable by stock dividend.

2005

Completed potash debottlenecking project to bring back previous idled capacity and increase compaction capability at Rocanville. Table

Announced potash debottlenecking project to bring back previous idled capacity and increase compaction capability at Allan. Table

Purchased an initial 9.99 percent stake in Sinofert Holdings Limited (Sinofert) for $97.4M.

Purchased an additional one percent of ICL, bringing our total ownership to 10 percent.

Acquired an additional $18.5M of APC shares, raising total ownership interest to 28 percent.

2006

Purchased an additional seven percent of SQM for $231.5M, raising total ownership interest to 32 percent.

Purchased an additional 10.01 percent of Sinofert for $126.3M, raising total ownership interest to 20 percent.

Installed 82,000 additional tonnes of purified phosphoric acid capacity at Aurora at a cost of $75 million.

2007

Announced potash debottlenecking and expansion projects to bring back previous idled capacity and/or increase standard-grade production capacity and additional compaction capability at Rocanville, New Brunswick, Cory and Patience Lake facilities. Table

Announced a three-for-one stock split of the company’s outstanding common shares effective May 29, 2007, payable by stock dividend.

2008

Purchased an additional one percent of ICL for $116M, raising total ownership interest to 11 percent. Purchased an additional two percent of Sinofert for $319M, raising total ownership interest to 22 percent.

Announced a further potash debottlenecking project at Allan and changed scope of expansion projects at Rocanville and Cory to add more production capability. Table

2009

Completed potash debottlenecking project to bring back previous idled capacity at Patience Lake. Table

Obtained mining permit from the US Army Corps of Engineers in June 2009, allowing the company's Aurora, NC phosphate operation to mine reserves in excess of thirty years.

Completed construction of a new $260 million sulfuric acid plant at the company's Aurora, NC phosphate operation. This will enable productive capability to meet stated phosphoric acid capacities without purchasing sulfuric acid.

2010

Purchased an additional three percent of ICL for $422M, raising total ownership interest to 14 percent.

Completed construction on the first phase of our debottlenecking and expansion project at Cory. Table

2011

Announced a three-for-one stock split of the company's outstanding common shares effective February 24, 2011, payable by stock dividend.

2012

Completed construction of the second phase of our expansion project at Cory. Table

Completed construction of our expansion project at Allan. Table

2013

Restarted 500,000 tonnes of previously idled annual ammonia capacity at Geismar.
